Physician and Professional Referrals

Puretone Hearing Clinic is an Audiologist-owned practice with no manufacturer ownership ties and no exclusive manufacturer pathway, providing careful Audiologist-led care for patients across Surrey, White Rock, and Vancouver.

When patients report difficulty following conversations, increased television volume, social withdrawal, tinnitus, reduced speech clarity, or family concern, referring professionals need a hearing-care partner who can assess carefully and communicate findings clearly.

Puretone works with family physicians, ENT specialists, nurse practitioners, MOAs, clinic coordinators, and other professionals who want patients seen in a respectful, Audiologist-led setting.

Our focus is careful Audiological Assessment, practical recommendations, Real-Ear Measurement when hearing aids are appropriate, and clear communication back to your office when reporting is needed and consent requirements are met.

Patients may be referred for hearing testing, tinnitus concerns, blocked-ear or conductive concerns before testing, underperforming hearing aids, Hearing Aids Second Opinions, work-related testing documentation, or Prescription Hearing Aids fitted with Real-Ear Measurement verification.

Experienced Registered Audiologists

Puretone was founded and is operated by Syed M. Ullah and Aaisha Qureshey, both Registered Audiologists with Master of Science degrees in Audiology from the University of Manchester and registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.

Our team supports adults with age-related hearing loss, speech clarity concerns, tinnitus, severe-to-profound hearing loss, underperforming hearing aids, occupational hearing documentation needs, and advanced hearing aid fitting needs that require proper verification.

When you refer a patient, your reputation is part of that handoff. We take that responsibility seriously.

Why Independence Matters for Patients

Puretone is built around patient benefit, not one-brand priorities or a manufacturer-owned retail pathway.

Many patients delay hearing care because they worry the appointment will feel like a sales conversation. They may be concerned about being steered toward one product, rushed into a decision, or left unclear about their actual hearing results.

Puretone helps reduce that barrier. Our Audiologists can discuss a range of major hearing aid platforms when appropriate and recommend based on hearing results, communication demands, lifestyle, dexterity, comfort, sound preference, and patient goals.

Puretone is not owned by a hearing aid manufacturer and is not locked into one brand pathway. We work clinically with major hearing aid manufacturers, but recommendations are made according to the patient’s needs rather than manufacturer ownership.

That independence matters after the recommendation too. When hearing aids are prescribed, Real-Ear Measurement helps verify the fitting directly in the patient’s ear canal instead of relying only on software estimates.

Patients receive guidance based on assessment and fitting accuracy, while your office receives reassurance that the referral is being handled through a professional care process.

Audiological Services for Referral Pathways

Puretone supports primary care, ENT, occupational, institutional, and community referral pathways.

Audiological Assessments

Adult hearing evaluations to assess hearing levels, speech understanding, listening concerns, and the right next step for care, monitoring, or referral communication.

Prescription Hearing Aids and Real-Ear Measurement

When hearing aids are appropriate, we recommend Prescription Hearing Aids through an Audiologist-led process and verify fittings with Real-Ear Measurement.
Care may include hearing aid fitting appointments, verification, follow-up visits, fine-tuning, counselling, adaptation support, and practical troubleshooting for modern Rechargeable, Smart, Bluetooth, and AI-powered hearing-aid features when clinically appropriate.

Tinnitus Assessment and Support

Structured assessment and guidance for patients reporting ringing, buzzing, hissing, or sound-related strain, with onward referral considerations when red flags are present.

Blocked-Ear and Conductive Concerns

Assessment for patients with a blocked or muffled ear, suspected conductive involvement, or hearing-aid performance affected by ear-canal obstruction. Cerumen management is available at selected clinics when clinically appropriate, and unclear cases are guided to a hearing test.

Cognitive Screening with Cognivue

Available at selected locations for patients and families who want a structured screening layer when hearing, listening effort, focus, memory concerns, or communication changes overlap.

Work, Employment, and Institutional Hearing Tests

Hearing assessment and documentation support for work, employment, institutional, Veterans Affairs Canada, WorkSafeBC, licensing, or other occupational pathways when the patient brings the required forms or instructions. Puretone provides hearing testing and documentation; the requesting organization makes final eligibility, pass/fail, clearance, or employment decisions.

Funding and Provider Pathway Support

Clinic-side guidance for eligible patients navigating WorkSafeBC, Veterans Affairs Canada, BC Ministry support, Persons with Disabilities pathways, extended health benefits, and financing where appropriate.

Common Referral Reasons and Hearing Aids Second Opinions

Puretone commonly supports adults who need diagnostic clarity, hearing treatment guidance, or a second opinion after an unsatisfactory hearing-care experience.

Some patients have already been assessed or fitted elsewhere but continue to report poor speech clarity, background-noise difficulty, discomfort, low hearing-aid use, or limited day-to-day benefit.

In many cases, the issue is not simply the hearing aid itself. The problem may involve incomplete assessment, lack of verification, hearing change, poor physical fit, outdated settings, repair needs, or insufficient follow-up.

A Hearing Aids Second Opinion at Puretone may include updated testing, counselling, Real-Ear Measurement where appropriate, review of current hearing aids, repair-versus-upgrade guidance, or discussion of whether a different Prescription approach is needed.

Common Referral Reasons:

  • Age-related hearing loss
  • Suspected conductive hearing concerns
  • Tinnitus
  • Blocked-ear or conductive concerns, including cerumen where clinically relevant
  • Work, employment, or institutional hearing-test documentation
  • Underperforming hearing aids
  • Speech clarity difficulty in background noise
  • Patients needing independent guidance before a hearing-aid decision
  • Patients needing Real-Ear Measurement or hearing aid fitting review
  • Patients dissatisfied after a chain, big-box, online, or manufacturer-led pathway

This gives your office a reliable referral option for both first-line hearing assessment and more detailed hearing-aid review.

Reporting and Referral Workflow

Puretone keeps the referral process practical for physicians, ENT offices, MOAs, clinic coordinators, and other referring professionals.

Paragraph: Good referral relationships depend on clarity, follow-through, and respect for the circle of care. When a formal referral is received and consent requirements are met, Puretone can provide clear Audiological findings and recommendations back to the referring office.

Prompt Reporting

Reports can be sent to the referring office after assessment when appropriate, helping your team stay informed without chasing updates.

Clear Recommendations

We outline what was found, what was recommended, and whether physician follow-up, ENT review, repeat testing, or another pathway should be considered.

Patient-Friendly Experience

Patients are seen in a calm setting where the focus is explanation, appropriate care, and enough space to make informed decisions.

Respect for the Referral Relationship

We aim to reflect well on your practice through thoughtful care, careful communication, and respectful patient handling.

How to Refer

The process is comfortable, efficient, and designed to make the hearing aid fitting more precise.

01

Download the Referral Form

Use Puretone’s standard referral form when your office wants a quick, consistent way to send patient information.

02

Use Your Own EMR Referral

Your office may also send a standard referral letter from your EMR system to the clinic location most convenient for the patient.

03

Patient Direct Booking

Patients may also contact Puretone directly. A physician referral is not required to book, but a formal referral helps maintain communication and may support insurance requirements.

04

Assessment and Follow-Up

Once the referral is received, our team contacts the patient, helps route them to the right location, completes the assessment, and sends findings back where appropriate and consent requirements are met.

Referral Contact Note: Confirm the correct referral form, fax numbers, and clinic routing details before publishing.

If your office is unsure which clinic location is best, contact our team and we will help route the referral appropriately.

Financial Accessibility and Provider Pathways

Puretone helps eligible patients understand support pathways that may reduce friction around appropriate hearing care.

For some patients, the barrier is not recognizing the hearing concern. It is uncertainty around coverage, funding, documentation, or payment options.

Puretone helps patients understand applicable pathways such as extended health benefits, BC Ministry support, Persons with Disabilities funding, Veterans Affairs Canada, WorkSafeBC, and financing where appropriate, including 0% financing options for eligible patients.

This support can be especially helpful for seniors, workers with occupational hearing concerns, veterans, patients with disability-related support, and families trying to help a parent move forward.

Provider Pathways May Include:

  • Extended health benefits
  • WorkSafeBC
  • Veterans Affairs Canada
  • BC Ministry support
  • Persons with Disabilities funding pathways
  • Financing options where appropriate, including 0% financing options for eligible patients
  • Documentation and receipts for reimbursement where applicable

Important Note: Coverage, eligibility, approval, reimbursement, and funding decisions are made by the relevant insurer, agency, employer, government program, or funding pathway. Puretone supports the hearing-care and clinic-side documentation process.
